Wiki-Site for IWN 2009

Welcome Everyone

Announcement: We decided on a theme over the retreat. It is:

Sail Away

There are rough seas,
But there's a place to be.

This will be our main communication page for International Week and Night 2009.

I know all of you have heard of Wikipedia, but have you heard about wikis? Wikis are cool because anyone that the wiki creator deems administrator can edit any wiki page. In other words, you can mess with any of the text on screen.

Adrian and Sean will be assisting me with moderator duties.

My plan is to make all committee heads administrators on this wiki page, and I'm thinking about making committee members admins too. I'm going to create pages for each committee, and each committee head will be responsible for their page. My goal for this page is that any committee member or head of IWN 2009 can look at the different committee pages and find out what's going on.

I'm hoping that you all will keep your pages up-to-date with what's going on in your committees. Don't be afraid to be as specific as possible with your updates, even if it's just a bunch of dates or numbers that looks boring. Any and all information we can share with each other will be helpful.

So here is what you need to do in order to edit this wiki page:

  1. Create an account with http://www.wikidot.com
  2. Click on "How to Join this site" on the left and either fill out the application or use the password. Email me for the password and I'll send it to you.
  3. check out the page and start editing! (I will have to confirm you as a member. The edit button is on the bottom right hand corner of the page.)

You don't have to start making serious updates to your page right now; after all, we haven't even started the retreat. However, I'm creating a page called "How cool we are," where you add your name and a few short paragraphs talking about how cool you are. Hopefully, this will help you become familiar with wiki pages and will give people an interesting insight to your personality.

ALSO, I've created a contacts page. It's part of the menu on top. Add your name and contact information as soon as possible please.

I'm eager to see what you guys have to say about how cool you are, and I'm also eager to hear your feedback about the wiki. Is it a good idea? A bad idea? Will you ever use it?
